SUNROCK VINEYARDS - WINEGROWING IN THE SOUTH OKANAGAN
If you're looking north from almost anywhere in the town of Osoyoos, British Columbia, it's hard to miss the Sunrock estate and its iconic massive rock face that stands like a sentinel above its gentle-sloping, southwest-facing vineyards. From any angle, it's a beautiful setting, but it is much more than that. It is a unique collection of elements that combine to create a story of place and wine. We take a closer look at the reasons why with two videos, this first one that focuses on the winegrowing and another that examines the Sunrock wines through the lens of food.
For a look at the unique winegrowing conditions below the rock, Anthony Gismondi talks to Dave Carson, Sunrock's head winemaker and Troy Osborne, its director of viticulture. Both men know the region well and know the conditions of these vineyards, now twenty years old are special.
For the wine and food pairings take a look at “Long Table Dinner”. We asked Chef Derek Uhlemann to create a menu to pair with the Sunrock wines, using local ingredients. He prepares and serves the dishes to the people who made the wine, under the evening warmth of Sunrock. Watch it here: https://youtu.be/MdKInlw0ilc
